FAQ 2017-01-28T21:03:35+00:00

It always surprises us that, regardless of the type of business or person, most questions are always the same! That is boring for us to answer and frustrating for you to ask. You want the answer now, without the hassles of telephoning or emailing and maybe getting a hard-sell in the process. So from us to you, with love, here are the FAQs.

That is not actually a question, but here goes!

Our fee covers 12 months of service delivery. In that time, if you get even just four extra nights accommodation sales OR six extra meal sales OR four extra activity sales, you will have broken even.

Any more than that, you are in profit territory. Sounds like a particularly good deal to me!

If you would like a translation that is likely to be embarrassingly bad, incomprehensible or just plain offensive, then do use Google Translate. Otherwise, we would not recommend it.

Google Translate may look like an easy option, but it simply does not work for Chinese. Consider this:

  • There are over 3,500 characters in simplified Chinese.
  • These characters are logo-grams, with each character representing a word or a phrase.
  • Compare that with the 26 letters we use in our alphabet, each of which is a number of abstract lines that are combined to make words.
  • The result of trying to convert over 3,500 logo-grams into English or vice versa using Google Translate is seldom a good one!

Ideally, send images as a jpeg file. Higher resolution rather than lower. We can compress and manipulate at this end to get a good result.

As to how many, well it is up to you. We find between four to six is a good number but for some operations that benefit from the visual element, eight or ten is better. Conversely, a single image is sufficient for some operations. Up to you, we will accommodate your wishes.

We can also provide free of charge high resolution professional images of your location to pad out your entry if desired.

Word count is really is up to you. From experience, we think around 400 words is ideal. Too few and the message looks unappealing. Too many and few will bother to read to the end.

Keep to the key facts about your operation. Place emphasis on the key benefits to the potential customer and what they can expect, rather than just features.

Advise your hours of operation (if appropriate), location, links to your website, social media, contact details and so on.

Supply good photos (see the relevant FAQ) and use those images to visually convey what those benefits are.

And if you are not a cheapskate and lashed out on our all service Platinum Package, then you can get key bits of your own website and booking sheets translated free of charge, along with email threads that directly relate to leads generated from huanying.co.nz.

Yes. Our huanying.co.nz tourism directory, and indeed anything and everything we do, is designed to fit smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops. With huanying.co.nz in particular, we are well aware that almost without exception the Chinese visitors using this site will be doing so from smartphones and tablets. We designed accordingly. Next question please!

Well you could and we can do that for you. Problem is, it will not achieve much if anything at all.

The internet in China is still heavily censored, and if your site can be accessed from China (assuming it is hosted from outside China), then at best some pages will load, others not at all. Then you have the problem of promotion. Then you will need to optimize for Baido (the Chinese Google), which is possible but will cost you big.

If you would like to host within China, it will be expensive and many of the same problems will occur.

Really, promotion at this time is ideally a mix of Chinese social media within China and the likes of huanying.co.nz for when the Chinese visitors actually arrive in NZ. Your Huanying page is essentially a scaled down version of you website written in Chinese. We suggest that this be combined with the translation of key phrases on the homepage of your own website, and a link from this to a dedicated Chinese only page or pages be provided. This provides an affordable and effective option, as all the page translations, development, and promotion of these pages are included in our annual Platinum Package charges.
